Our Programs

Delta Gems

Delta Gems is our youth mentoring program for young teen aged girls.

The Growing & Empowering Myself Successfully (GEMS) is a mentoring program aimed at catching the dreams of adolescent high school girls from ages 14-18.

The goals of the Delta GEMS are to instill academic excellence; provide tools to enable young ladies to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success; to assist in goal-setting and planning; and to create compassionate, caring, and community-minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities. We provide structured and participatory learning activities that focus on topics such as college and career readiness, empowerment, financial awareness, community/public service, leadership skills, and social etiquette skills.

Sessions take place one Saturday every month (unless otherwise noted). All mentors in the program are members of Vallejo Alumnae Chapter (VAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and go through an extensive application and screening process. Interested young women must complete an application and be selected to participate in the programs.

Delta Academy

Delta Academy is our youth mentoring program for young girls aged 11-14.

Our Delta Academy programs place particular emphasis on ensuring that our young girls are ready and prepared to be leaders in the ever-changing world of the 21st Century, through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

It is designed for young girls who:

▲ Demonstrates great academic and personal promise; yet lack support and encouragement.

▲ Shows interest in developing leadership skills.

▲ Shows interest in community action and social change.

▲ Shows interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers.

Through in-person/virtual sessions and activities in the community and beyond, the Academy program offers opportunities to young girls of great promise who might otherwise be excluded because they lack support, resources, and encouragement. The Academy recognizes the disadvantages many young girls in various communities' face because of gender, income, age, and parental resources despite the personal potential of the girls themselves. A primary goal of the Academy is to prepare these young girls for full participation in the 21ST century world. This Academy is administered by the Vallejo Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, as one of the COBGC programs.
